The numbers

How much does a wedding cost?

There is no single answer — the same celebration can cost wildly different amounts depending on three things: how many guests you invite, where you marry, and the style you choose. The calculator above models all three.

Most of your budget is driven by catering and the bar, because they scale with every guest. Fixed costs — the venue, photographer, attire and flowers — stay broadly the same whether you host 80 guests or 140, which is why your cost per guest falls as the list grows. Trimming the guest list is almost always the single biggest lever on the total.

How much does a wedding cost?

A typical mid-range wedding lands around the cost of a small car, but the real number swings widely with guest count, location and style. Catering and the bar are usually the largest single line, because they scale with every guest you invite. The calculator above gives you a personalised estimate and a category-by-category breakdown so you can see where the money goes.

How is the estimate calculated?

Each category has a baseline made of a fixed part (things like the venue, photographer and attire that do not change much with headcount) and a per-guest part (catering, bar, rentals, stationery and favours that grow with every guest). That baseline is then scaled by your location and your chosen style. It is a planning estimate, not a quote.

What is a realistic cost per guest?

Per-guest cost typically falls once your fixed costs are spread across more people, then catering and bar keep it from dropping too far. The calculator shows your cost per guest live as you change the guest count, so you can see the effect of trimming or growing the list.

Can I download my budget?
